Why bother with yet another platform dedicated to Veterans? Why amplify the voices of those who have served and are living with disabilities? These questions demand answers, rooted in the profound need for recognition, support, and remembrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


In the last two decades alone, over 1600 Australian veterans have tragically taken their own lives. Behind each statistic lies a heartbreaking narrative of despair, of individuals who felt abandoned by a society that failed to acknowledge their worth beyond their service. It’s a sobering reality, a shameful waste of lives that have already sacrificed so much in the service of their country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spreading the word about our cause is not merely a matter of advocacy; it’s a mission of empowerment. By heralding the voices of disabled Veterans, we pave the way for tangible change, for the realisation of our Commemorative Gardens Vision. Every story shared, every voice heard, brings us closer to this shared goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Commemorative Gardens complex symbolises an opportunity to embody our national values\u2014a space where the past is remembered, the present is cherished, and the future is shaped by the lessons of our shared history. Yet, amidst the myriad of military memorials, there exists a noticeable void\u2014an absence of recognition for our disabled veterans and their ongoing struggles. While existing monuments honour various aspects of military service, the sacrifices of those who returned with life-altering injuries often remain unacknowledged. This absence, whether born of history, perception, or institutional oversight, is something we seek to gently but firmly change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We now have the chance to rectify this oversight\u2014to create a lasting tribute that celebrates the courage and resilience of disabled Veterans and their families. The Veterans Commemorative Gardens Complex transcends mere aspiration; it embodies a vision of remembrance and gratitude that necessitates our collective support to come to fruition. Picture a sanctuary of remembrance where the stories of our disabled Veterans are preserved for future generations\u2014a place where their sacrifices are revered and their bravery celebrated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
